One of the best things to do to start a remodeling project is to have an idea in mind of what you want to accomplish. This doesn’t mean you have to have every detail worked out but have a general scope of work in mind. This will help the contractor get an idea of what you’re looking to do so they can properly put together an estimate and ultimately provide the best service for you. A good contractor will help give good advice and direction regarding design and layout and how that affects pricing, timelines, etc.

This all depends on the overall scope of work which is discussed during the initial consultation. Depending on what area of the home is being remodeled and the availability of materials chosen, the project’s duration could vary greatly.

The unfortunate side of doing construction work in an existing home is that dust can always migrate outside of the work area into other finished areas of the house. The cutting of wood, sanding drywall and jackhammering concrete kick up many small dust particles that can be hard to contain. We have a clean up policy in place and do our best to leave your home looking better than we found it!

Depending on the size of the project, the scope of work, and various details, some contractors require a Design Agreement that varies in price. However, the first conversation or consultation with a contractor should be free. It shouldn’t cost anything to talk to someone.

Constant communication is key to a successful project – both for the homeowner and the contractor. Depending on how frequently you as the homeowner want updates, the contractor should accommodate your needs. Communication is a two-way street, however, the contractor should be the driver for communication as well.
